The bit about me!
I build websites with WordPress, live by the beach in Goa, and spend numerous months a year traveling to new countries with my wife. See how annoyingly smug I look...
But I wasn't always happy. I failed as a musician, did a ton of menial jobs and spent 15 years working for the Civil Service mostly in dreary, expensive London. I did a Psychology degree, but nothing much came from that.
Fortunately I started building websites in 2006 as a hobby. It lead to me creating an intranet for my staff team and to me starting an ecommerce business on the side.
Eventually, I took a leap of faith and left my job with no real plan or financial backup, but I'm pleased I did. I survived and finally had quality time to learn my new web building trade and what this whole internet malarky is really about. It continues to be a learning journey and that's what I want to share with you.
Enough of me, what about you?
Small business owners
You're the inspiration for this blog. You're the nice folk who've been putting hot meals on my table ... but I've failed you... I'm sorry!
I gave you the website you asked for, but too often not the one you really deserved. You should have walked away with a supercharged power site. Designed for optimum traffic and conversions. You should be supping champagne and gorging yourself on cavier not reading this.
I wasn't holding back on purpose. Honestly. It was just that explaining how "Digital" is so different to traditional offline marketing went too far beyond our relationship. You came for website, not a marketing plan. We didn't talk about business aims.
Even if you wanted advice I didn't have a short and simple way to explain where your business could gain the most. My regular reading of Digital Marketing articles were hardly light reading aimed at busy small businesses.
Give me another chance. Together we can get your online presence kicking. If there is one thing I'm certain about it's that all businesses can make massive gains and spend less if they embrace Digital Marketing. And here we are going to cut through the fluff and get to the good stuff.
Builder of websites
Hello chums. The great thing about our job/hobby/obsession/thing that drives our loved ones crazy / is we never stop learning. It all changes every couple of year's so we might as well stick together and keep sharing (much nicer than trying to annihilate each other as competition).
What I'm trying to add to the vast pool of knowledge is my hands on experience with WordPress and more recently with Beaver Builder.
I never would have believed it before, but with Beaver Builder we now have a platform that is just as good for web newbies as it is for serious developers. It's perfect for the democratic ethos behind WordPress and for those of us who would like to see less of the "us"(developers) and "them" (clients) mentality in web design and digital marketing.
Here, I'll be sharing videos of tricks I learned, mistakes I've made, code snippets and other resources.
No doubt I'll also be shooting my mouth off about the state of our industry. I'll aim for breathtaking philosophical wisdom, but expect something more like the rantings of an uninvited drunk at the end of a party.
* I use a few affiliate links on this blog. I was never keen on them, but it could help me to create more content for products I would be promoting anyway.
