Customize your WordPress dashboard with Beaver Builder

Here I show you a simple, lightweight,  but hugely powerful free plugin.  It lets you spruce up the content area of your WP dashboard with your own Beaver Builder templates. It’s brilliant for clients.

It was created by Clark Marshall  who is a popular contributor to the Beaver Builder community. Kudos also must go to Chantal Marie-Laurence Edouard-Betsy for her part (that really is her name and not a village in Wales)

And oh major excitement (for me) I even added a little bit to the plugin (yeah, I’m a core contributor, but you know,  I don’t like to talk about ;-) )

Here are the links

(Used in this video… but not only so I could add an affiliate link – I promise.)

Note: It works on WP multisites too and seems fine on all the major desktop browsers (as we would expect).

I really like this tutorial! Thanks!

    I have 2 questions:

    1)
I tried to duplicate the original demonstration that Chantal made.
    – and found that font awesome wouldn’t load in the dashboard, for the modal buttons.
Do you know how to get the font awesome icons to work in the dashboard widget?

    2)
I was trying to integrate a contact form into the dashboard widget but couldn’t get it to work.
I tried the Beaver Builder module as well as Beaverlodge’s Contact Form 7.

The form only went through when I was working in a page or template.
Is there a workaround you know of?

      Hey Michael,

Flipping good questions. Funny, I’ve just be doing an interview with Clark and he mention later that on his plugin CSS was not coming through. He was trying to solve that. Clearly, I have not thought this through as logically the font awesome stylesheet will not load there unless “enqueued”.

Just not sure with the form submission. I thought I had tried that with the plugin, but have been to bed a few times since. I was hoping to talk to Chantal next week, but maybe I can ask them both to take a look at this?

I need will this soonish so will also need a solution.

This may take some time. Chantal has a form (in a pop-up), but it is a Gravity form embedded from another site. So that is why hers is working and Clark has nothing at the moment. I have some proper web development work to do – annoying ;-)

I was just playing with this – great plugin. I too was trying to figure out how to connect a contact form – thinking for support.
Also entirely not related and has been a sore spot with me in the builder – no previews of the modules/sections I am selecting. Hmmmm in your video for UABB you clearly can see previews of what you are selecting. Any suggestions/ideas/settings that I haven’t found that would display these for me? I searched through the settings in my install but always come up empty.

    Thanks for the great video
    Teri

      Hi Teri,

Yeah, forms are an issue and will not work. Chantal ( who think I referred to) put one in using an iframe of a form on a another page. I have not tried that, but it worked for her.

There is another plugin that came after this https://wordpress.org/plugins/dashboard-welcome-for-beaver-builder/, but this has the same issue with forms. Also it leaves empty meta-boxes which is the thing I removed on Clarks plugin (my only contribution!)

There is no module previews, but yes if “sections” are turned on with UABB you should see a preview of those. It is turned on here:
https://ultimate.beaverjunction.com/ if you want to check it against yours.

It’s a shame about the forms when I did the video I did not think that they would not work. It was beyond Clark and me to know how to solve it. :-(

    Hi!
I tried and love this plugin but it behaves in two different ways:

1 – In admin mode everything looks fine: No weird top padding and no weird left menu overlapping. Perfect!

2a – In editor mode there was a huge top padding from the #dashboard-widgets
    I think I’ve fixed it (poorly?) by changing the assets css to: #dashboard-widgets .meta-box-sortables {display: none;}

2b – Also in editor mode, the left adminmenu overlaps the custom dashboard…
    I tried to fix that too but… I’m not a coder….

Do you think you or Clark could find a way around that weird left menu overlap in editor mode?
    This is an awesome plugin!

    Best Regards,
    Claudio Brites

Hi Claudio. Thank you for this. Actually I think my tiny contribution was to add that CSS. I never thought about the editor mode. I am going to be busy for a week or so (travelling) , but will try to look at it. I’ll let Clark know too. Thanks again.
